Booking a photoshoot in your home without stress // Columbus Lifestyle Photographer

There are many reasons to opt for an in-home session and I’d love to quickly go through them and share some examples of my favorite images from recent in-home sessions. One common concern I hear from people is that a) your space is too small and b) your space is too messy. Let me tell you that neither is true. I have photographed in all types of homes and can promise you from experience that size does not matter. And concerning a mess/clutter - I typically only photograph in 1-2 rooms in your home and we can determine which rooms those will be beforehand so that you don’t need to clean all day or rearrange the house.

An at-home session is intended to take the stress off and here is why.

  1. Your child/ren and other family members will feel most comfortable in a place they’re familiar with, which will allow for more authentic connections and images.

  2. Your pets can easily be incorporated into your session.

  3. Your home has obvious sentimental value and can be thought of as an additional character in your images. The way the light shines through the kitchen in the early morning or sun sets in the window behind your bed is a daily and intimate reminder of home, and you will be happy to have it captured.

  4. You can spend your session time doing the things you love and already do. Does your family love to bake together? Color? Read books on the couch? Swing in the backyard? We can capture it all.

  5. Time of year: the weather, time of day, and time of year are much less restrictive for an in-home session, which means that you can book them when it’s convenient for you. Many photographers, myself included, offer specials during the winter months when outdoor work slows down, which you can take advantage of for this type of session. Remember that the point is to capture your connection and love for one another, which will look beautiful in any setting. See below for examples.
