What Happy Clients Are Saying

“I’m seriously in tears. Thank you. These are amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen pictures that capture us like this.”

— Mary

“It’s amazing how you can take an ordinary evening and make it look and feel so remarkable. I am so excited to share these with family but also for ourselves to look back and remember how things were when they were little. The giggles, the curls, the tiny hands, the togetherness; it is something we will truly cherish forever!”

— Kate

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

  • No, but I highly recommend it! Many of the images you see across my website were taken in and outside of clients’ homes, however I am always open to venturing out if that’s more comfortable for you. I find that children (especially toddlers) cooperate best and are their most authentic in the places they feel the most comfortable, so I’d recommend choosing your family’s favorite park, ice cream shop or neighborhood if you don’t want photos at home.

  • Hey mama, I hear your concern. I have two young kids who LOVE to not cooperate, but they are excellent at just being themselves. That’s what we want to capture, right? Honesty over perfection.

Kids aren’t meant to sit still, so instead of asking them to, I’m going to document what your life is really like. I’ve been told I’m incredibly patient AND I have many tricks up my sleeves for turning bad moods around and bringing smiles and delight to your kid’s faces during the session. I’m also good at chasing toddlers! Again, the most likely way to encourage cooperation/reduce distraction and anxiety is to plan for a session at home or another familiar environment.

  • Absolutely! I think it’s so important to capture the relationship between your child and their favorite grandparent, aunt or uncle, and cousins. What a treasure for them to have someday. I certainly wish I had more images of myself with my grandparents, many of whom passed while I was quite young.

Due to the extended time it takes to organize and photograph a large family, as well as the extra images I create as a result of capturing so many variations of the smaller groups within the larger group, I book extended families as Whole Story sessions. You are under no obligation to use the full three hours, but it’s yours if you’d like it. Bonus: you get a photo album with complementary design - a perfect gift for delighting any grandparent.

  • No. You are under no obligation to use it, but it cannot be traded in for a discount: it is baked into the cost of your collection and has NO CASH VALUE. If you don’t want to purchase prints for yourself (say you’re getting ready to move, etc), you can always put the credit towards printed gifts for family members.

  • I’ll text you a sneak peek within 48 hours to hold you over, then, in about 3-4 weeks you’ll have access to your fully edited gallery of images.

  • Yes!! We can have an entire session devoted to your dog if you’d like (I’ve done it before!). The best way to incorporate pets into your photos is to have your session at home, either indoors or in your backyard. That way your pet doesn’t have to be tied to a leash, and can go back inside once he’s done with his part of the session ;)

  • To be honest, I’ve dedicated years to honing both my customer service and photography skills, and I’ve gotten really good at taking care of my clients. I regularly invest in high-quality gear and education in order to offer you the best of my abilities. Also, as much as I LOVE this job, it is my career and it needs to make sense with regard to both finances and the amount of time I spend away from my own children.

In addition to that, I not only create art for your family, I also guide you each step of the way so you are never left wondering what to expect. I spend a lot of time getting to know you and establishing a relationship so that you aren't just a number. I want to capture YOUR family’s unique story, and I put in the time and hard work to do so.

  • I honestly couldn’t live without either one. Digital photography offers me efficiency and reliable performance in low light and with fast-moving subjects, whereas film shines in brighter light. I find the colors, grain, and nostalgic qualities of film to be absolutely magical and impossible to replicate digitally, so when I can use it, I do. Film offers you something different from everything else out there.

  • After your session, I’ll send your film off to my lab who will develop and scan it, and then send it back to me digitally, where I’ll make any final adjustments needed. You’ll receive your film images the exact same way you’ll receive your digital images - via your online gallery.

About the printed image:

“We now live in a world of non-stop digital images, stored on phones and scrolled through quickly, that always feel slightly once removed, since ‘clicking through’ is quite different from holding, and savoring. Tactile images of your family can be a magical tool for all sorts of playful activities. Instead of simply storing your shots in the ether, print out a hearty batch and use them as an invitation to reconnect and reminisce.”

Couldn’t have said it better myself so I’ll let Meredith Sinclair tell you, from her book “Well Played”
