Fall Minisessions in Columbus, Ohio

Fall minis are a perfect opportunity to get that Christmas card photo, try out a new photographer, capture a milestone, or refresh your family photos because your kids are just growing TOO. DARN. FAST.

I’ve found that for me, fall minis are made up of two types of clients: regulars who book a full session every year and grab a mini to complement that, and perennials who love to check in for their annual updated family photo, with the occasional new client popping in to see what HSP is all about (hi! I appreciate you!).

Here’s what you should know about fall minisessions in Columbus, Ohio, with Heart Sung Photography.

  1. They are short and sweet.

These sessions are NOT meant to replace a full length session. If you’re here because you love my true-to-life imagery, my work on film, and my ability to capture candid moments that are genuine and unique to your family, you’ll want to book a full session. If however, you just need a few special, beautiful pictures of your favorite people, this short and sweet session will definitely do.

2. They are perfect for busy families.

A lot of families don’t have the time to schedule and plan a full-length session. I get it. Fall minis are an easy and guaranteed way to document your family each year as your kids are rapidly growing and changing.

3. They’re a good fit if you’re worried a full session is too long for your kids/spouse or you have anxiety about their behavior.

I personally think longer sessions are perfect for young children, because we can take our time without putting pressure on anyone to perform or do anything they aren’t thrilled about. A slower session means relaxing, building trust, opening up, capturing more candid moments and genuine personalities. But I do understand the anxiety that comes with trying to get your partner or children on board for a longer session, especially if it’s your first time working with me and you aren’t sure what to expect. If that’s the case, a mini could be perfect for you.

4. Earning your child’s trust and making them comfortable is my top priority.

I’m going to brag now: I am a bit of a child-whisperer. Yes, minisessions are only 15 minutes long, but the secret is that I really only need 5 minutes of camera-time to capture a nice variety of beautiful images. Sometimes the first ten minutes are spent soothing your child, especially if they are shy. Playing with them, talking to them, and letting them know nothing scary is going to happen once I pull out my camera allows me to get relaxed and playful images with the time that we have leftover.
