An in home lifestyle newborn photography session means you get to have a sentimental backdrop for your images, PLUS everything on hand that you need for your baby and/or older siblings. Easy outfit and diaper changes, snacks, potty, tv breaks, coffee… you get the idea.
My goal with every in home lifestyle newborn photography session is to create a sense of ease and comfort for the family.
I do this a number of ways, first by having an in-depth consultation call with you well ahead of your session. During this call, we’ll figure out what you most love about your family and what you’d love to focus on during your session. We’ll go over tips for what to wear, the best time of day for your session, how to prepare older siblings, how to prepare your home (clean like you’re picking up a bit of clutter, but not like your in-laws are coming to stay for the night… you’ll want a bit of “real life” left out to capture the essence of this time). This is the most important step for establishing trust and ensuring that we are on the same page.
I love to take a slow approach to in home lifestyle newborn sessions to see what naturally unfolds, engaging with family members to make them feel comfortable, and waiting for opportune moments to click the shutter.
I’ll also guide you through some “posed” family portraits as well as portraits of the baby, which I do when they are snuggly and content (and usually asleep). Because newborn sessions with me are on the long side, 1.5-2 hours, babies nearly always fall asleep, which makes it easy to put them into natural poses right in mom or dad’s arms.
Afterwards, I’ll email your gallery within 3-4 weeks of your session, where you can download your images and use your print credit to order any prints or albums you’d like directly from your online gallery. I’ll send you a video walking you through the products I offer in my store, and I have samples that I’m happy to bring to your session as well. I also offer complementary design services on albums. Easy peasy, which is how it needs to be when you’re already so busy raising a family.
